Pre Columbian Art Museum
Address: Casa Cabrera, Plazoleta Nazarenas, Cuzco (Cusco), Perú. Open: 9am to 11pm.
This is the first Peruvian museum that presents visitors with the aesthetic aspects of exhibited objects which belong to ancient Peruvian cultures. The stunning work made by ancient men who since memorial times established a path for Peruvian artists to follow and feel motivated by. The museum intents to rescue the unique work of those anonymous artists whose creations are still a reason for pride and admiration. |
Inca Museum Cordova del Tucuman 103, corner with Ataud. Comprehensive collection presenting the evolution of Andean culture in the Valley of Cuzco (Cusco). Open: 8am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The museum is also open on holidays but not on Sundays.
Museum of Religious Art Corner of Calle Hatunrumiyoc and Herejes. Display of religious paintings, many from the renowned Cuzco (Cusco) School. Open: 9am to 12.30am and 3pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
Regional Historical Museum
Casa Garcilaso, Cuesta del Almirante. Paintings and antiques portraying Cuzco's history. Open: 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday; 9am to noon on Sunday.
Museum of Santa Catalina Plazoleta Santa Catalina. Religious art from the convent's collections. Open: 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
Museum of Archaeology
Palacio del Almirante. Pre-Columbian collection, Spanish paintings of imitation Inca royalty dating from the 18th century and an excellent textile collection. Open: 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday; 8am to 2pm on Saturday.
Museum of Contemporary Arts Casa de Gobierno, Plaza Regocijo. Open: 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
Natural History Museum Plaza de Armas, Paraninfo Universitario. Open: 9am to noon and 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. |
